Organ Duo Recital:
Ken Cowan and Bradley Hunter Welch

Sunday, September 22, 2024 | 5:00 p.m.

Two of the biggest names in the organ world join forces for a concert full of dazzling artistry and unmatched skill. Ken Cowan and Bradley Hunter Welch will play a variety of works featuring both organ and piano. The concert will also feature their own transcription of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with Welch on piano and Cowan on organ.


All Saints Concert: Fauré Requiem

Sunday, November 3, 2024 | 5:00 p.m.

The FUMC Chancel Choir, soloists, chamber orchestra, and organ will present Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, Op. 48. This profound work written in 1888 has become a staple in the sacred choral tradition. This concert serves as a prayer for the repose of the souls of the dead as well as a celebration of the saints in heaven.


Piano and Viola Recital: Daniel del Pino and Marian Herrero

Sunday, December 1, 2024 | 5:00 p.m.

Embark on a musical journey with a diverse and exciting program by one of the leading Spanish concert pianists and Texas Tech professor Daniel del Pino. His wife and skilled violist Marian Herrero joins Del Pino for a program featuring a variety of musical traditions and their own arrangements of works by Spanish composer Joaquín Turina.


Organ Recital: Monica Czausz Berney

A star among young classical musicians, Monica Czausz Berney has made a name for herself. As a concert organist, Ms. Berney has earned numerous accolades for her impressive technique and musicianship. Her leadership as Director of Music at St. Paul’s Parish in Washington D.C. has generated excitement across church music spheres.


Houston Boychoir

Sunday, February 16, 2025 | 5:00 p.m.

The mission of the Houston Boychoir is to build men of character through music. The boys develop discipline, confidence, a love for art and their neighbors. The Chamber Choir led by director Austin Hunt regularly performs with professional ensembles throughout Houston and beyond. They will also join FUMC for worship Sunday morning.


Hope in Song

Sunday, March 30, 2025 | 5:00 p.m.

Soprano, Amanda Key and Baritone, Gerald Dolter, will perform emotional Spirituals like “Give me Jesus” and “Deep River”, and beloved old hymns such as “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art” arranged by the world renowned composer Phillip Keveren for Violin, Cello, Flute, Clarinet, Soprano, and Baritone.


Vida Guitar Quartet

Sunday, May 11, 2025 | 5:00 p.m.

VIDA Guitar Quartet brings together four guitarists who share a passion for chamber music. Mark Ashford, Amanda Cook, Mark Eden and Christopher Stell as VIDA combines classical masterpieces by composers like Schubert and Vivaldi with exciting arrangements of musicals like Bernstein’s West Side Story.


God Shed His Grace on Thee: A Patriotic Festival

Wednesday, July 2, 2025 | 6:30 p.m.

This well-loved, annual concert honors America and salutes those who serve in our military and its veterans. Featuring talented musicians from our community, FUMC Chancel Choir is joined by the Lubbock Concert Band in a showcase of America’s favorite anthems. Wave the flag, wear red, white, and blue, and stay afterward for hot dogs and ice cream.


ABOUT THE VESPER CONCERT SERIES

For over 45 years, the Vesper Concert Series has presented the finest musicians from around the world and our community as a ministry to Lubbock and the South Plains. Past performers include Chanticleer, the Choir of Clare College–Cambridge, Gerre Hancock, the Kiev Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, The Kings Singers, John Rutter, John Scott, the Choir of St. Thomas Church–New York City, Frederick Swann, the Vienna Boys Choir, Sir David Willcocks, and the Tallis Scholars. 

All Vesper Concerts are open to the public free of admission with open registration for provided childcare. Post-concert receptions hosted by the Vesper Concert Committee are wonderful opportunities for fellowship among guest artists and our community.
